A winner (or two) will be selected at random from the entries to shadow either the AP or Principal while the other administrator attends all classes for that student and completes and/or hands in their work for them (where applicable, I don't think they want me taking their calculus exam).
We developed this contest as a Win-Win-Win proposition (maybe with a couple more wins included).
Win #1: Students will get to have the classes and assignments covered by their Principal if they win the contest by random selection. Enough said. What student doesn't want a 'day off' and doesn't think they can rock our job better than the Principals? Who knows, they might learn a thing or two about leadership when they shadow the other administrator in the office.
Win #2: Students will build a positive digital footprint and a supportive culture through using their social media in a better light. As every school who's digitally aware knows, students can use some support and modeling when it comes to using their social media in a way that builds a better picture of who they are and how they support others. Numerous colleges and businesses use companies like Socialintel, Infomart and others that check your social media use for the past 5-7 years before hiring or admitting potential clients/students. Not only will this contest help our immediate school culture to remain positive but will help student's reputation for the long-term.
Win #3: Administrators at our building will have a new insight into the life of a student at our school going through an entire scheduled day. It is imperative that educators do what is in the best interest of their student and what better way is there to know what they need than to be them and participate in their classes and assignments for an entire day? We are very excited for all the take-aways that sitting through entire classes as well as attempting writings, lessons and assessments will bring. While I'm not excited to possibly have AP Calculus in my near future, what is there not to like about making closer connections to our students.
I am very excited about this contest and all the good it can bring to our students, administrators and entire school. With that being said, do you see a way we could improve this contest and add another win for any or all of us?
